We started with flour, water, and a stubborn belief that small towns deserve something special.

Higher Grounds 2.0 isn't a chain, a franchise, or a concept. It's a bakery and coffee shop on West State Street in Fox Lake, run by people who actually live here and care about what goes on the plate and in the cup.

Higher Grounds 2.0 grew out of a simple idea: Fox Lake deserved a neighborhood spot where the coffee was good, the bread was real, and the people behind the counter knew your name.

We opened our doors on West State Street with an empty bakery case and a full espresso machine, and we've been figuring it out alongside you ever since. Some days are busy. Some days are quiet. Both kinds are welcome here.
